The autonomous intelligent systems (AIS) lab of the University of Freiburg is concerned with techniques for autonomous navigation, state estimation, and control in the context of mobile robotics and artificial intelligence. One of the major research areas covered by this lab is mobile robot navigation.

Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas (FORTH) - Computational Vision and Robotics Laboratory

FORTH's Computational Vision and Robotics Lab, has extensive experience in tasks related to vision based tracking. In the last years, FORTH's researchers have been very active in areas of hand and face tracking and gesture recognition, as well as hand tracking methodologies in the context of providing means to reason about unknown graspable targets with the aim to endow artificial hands with grasping capabilities.

Katholieke Universiteit (KU) Leuven - Machine Learning Research Group

The Machine Learning subgroup of the lab for Declarative Languages and Artificial Intelligence is participating in this project. It belongs to the Department of Computer Science of KU Leuven. The group studies a wide variety of topics in the domains of artificial intelligence, machine learning and data mining though the emphasis lies on learning from structured data and knowledge. The lab is well-known for its contributions to (probabilistic) inductive logic pro- gramming, (statistical) relational learning, (relational) reinforcement learning, graph mining, inductive queries, and decision tree learning.

Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) - Computer Vision Laboratory

VisLab has a long experience in machine vision and learning for robots. It has substantial experience in projects for vision based control of humanoid robots and submarines. The most recent works include humanoid robot learning algorithms for visual servoing, manipulation and grasping, and imitation learning. The group also has strong connections with neuro-science and developmental psychology researches in the area of cognitive robotics.

Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems (IAIS)

The Knowledge Discovery Department (KD) of Fraunhofer IAIS is a research group of about 40 scientists with experience and expertise in data mining and machine learning. Fraunhofer IAIS will primarily contribute to aspects of statistical relational inference and learning for manipulation tasks. In particular, Fraunhofer will contribute with their experience to allow for generalization over different tasks so that re-learning related activities can be reduced to a minimum.

Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) - Learning Algorithms and Systems Laboratory

The LASA laboratory at EPFL focuses on machine learning, cognitive robotics, computational neuro-science, and integrated mechatronics design. It has a longstanding contribution to the area of robot learning and in particular learning from human demonstrations and. The LASA laboratory made key contributions to the application of recent advances in machine learning to enable faster and more reliable training of robot, while emphasizing natural and user-friendly means of demonstrating the task.

Technische Universität Berlin (TUB) - Robotics and Biology Laboratory

The Robotics and Biology Laboratory headed by the PI Oliver Brock has performed substantial research in the area of mobile manipulation. This research has lead to a number of real-world implementations on mobile manipulation platforms. These research projects have generated progress in mobile manipulation in areas including motion planning, the integration of motion planning and control, feedback planning, perception, and manipulation.
